A MUSLIM businessman is taking on Pepsi and Coca Cola with an alternative soft drink.
Mecca Cola has opened a base in Birmingham after selling two million bottles worldwide.
Creator Tawfik Mathlouthi, who flew into Birmingham for the launch, said: “This is not just a beverage, this is about boycotting American products. We want to give an alternative to supporting United States capitalism.”
Ten per cent of profits will support the Palestinian cause and 10 per cent will go to UK charities.
Mr Mathlouthi added: “We want to show the rest of the world that Muslims are not terrorists and that we are charitable people.”
His next plan is to become the Muslim Colonel Sanders – with a chain called Halal Fried Chicken.
